Tips02 Jul 2009 02:10 pm

When the time comes to get a new car, it is often stressful.  Either our old one died on us, or we want a new one, but need to cough up the money to pay for it which is never easy.  Regardless of your situation, there is often a common question that is asked “Should I lease or buy a car?”  We all think about this, but we’re not sure what we should do.  Both of them are expensive, but which one is better for us?

Leasing:

When you lease a vehicle you will have lower monthly payments, and a lower down payment than you would if you bought.  You can also drive a newer and better car for less, and have lower repair costs because most warranties will cover any issues you may have.  Also, you only pay sales tax on the portion of the car you finance.

Although those may all be advantages, there are some disadvantages as well.  When you turn in the lease you no longer have a car, therefore you need to find another one quickly.  Also, you can only drive so many miles on your lease, and if you go over, you’ll be spending big bucks because of it.  Not to mention, leasing is more expensive in the long run as opposed to driving until your car no longer runs (when you buy.)

Buying:

It is nice to have your own car, this means you can do whatever you want to it, rack up as many miles as you want, and sell it whenever you want.

Although, when you buy a car you will most likely have higher monthly payments, and you’re usually required to put down more money for the down payment.  Not to mention, any repairs that your car needs will need to be out of your pocket once your warranty ends.

Deciding whether you want to buy or lease is really a tough decision.  They are both expensive in the long run, and they both have many disadvantages and advantages.  Really, you just need to see what matters most to you, and what you can better afford.  Consider these ideas above for guidance.

901196_driverIs it that time to look for a new car?  Whether your old one died on you, or you’re just looking for something new to keep up with the great technology, there are several options out there.  Although, there are also a few steps you should consider when searching for a new car.  Buying a new car can be a very expensive task, so we want to make sure we get the most for our money.  Listed below are some tips and advice you may want to consider when purchasing your next vehicle.

1.) How much? – First of all, what is your budget?  Set a goal price you want to get away with spending, and a max that you’re not willing to spend over.

2.) What kind of car? – Do you have an idea of what kind of car you want?  Look online at a few of your favorite auto manufacturers and see which vehicles you like best to get an idea.

3.) What am I looking for? – What are you looking for in your vehicle?  Does it have to have the latest technology, or could you care less?  What things are a must for your next car?

4.) Any specials? – Once you have an idea what kind of car you want, and what you want included with your car look around for specials and/or discounts.  There are several dealerships out there that must compete, see who has the best deals for what you want.

5.) Looking around – If you’ve found some good dealerships go up there and see what they have to offer.  Ask the salesman what specials they have going on, and tell him what you’re looking for.

6.) Look at a few – Once you find a vehicle you like, look at a couple of them.  See which ones are the best deal for the price.  Compare them all by color, mileage, year, features, etc.

7.) Test drive - Once you find a car you like out of the few, test drive it.  When you drive it you should feel comfortable and feel like “this is what I want”, if you don’t get that feeling, keep looking.  Or, test drive the other ones you were looking at.

8.) Search – Once you find the vehicle that feels comfortable to you, search it.  Look for any scrapes, scratches, stains, or any wear and tear in the vehicle.  If you see any, be sure to point it out to the salesman (that way you can maybe lower the price.)  Also, make sure everything works in the car!

9.) Negotiate – When you find the car that you’re truly happy with, try and negotiate the price.  Never settle for the going price.  At least knock off a few hundred or ask for something you may want like new wiper blades, tires, etc.

10.) Paperwork - Once you’ve settled on a price, be sure to carefully look over the paperwork.  Make sure you know how much your monthly payment will be, the total cost with tax, and make sure you’re not signing anything you don’t agree to.

Buying a new car can be pretty stressful, although if you take it step by step, make sure you do your research, and you get it for the right price, it’s not that bad.  Just don’t rush, or settle for anything less than what you want!

Fuel Efficient Cars02 Jul 2009 01:24 pm

Today a fuel efficient vehicle is almost a must.  We no longer accept vehicles that come with a low gas mileage like we used to.  Every car company is working hard to make sure they supply us with a fuel efficient vehicle.  With how much driving we do to go back and fourth to work and to run errands, it would be silly to consider a non fuel efficient vehicle.  We want to make sure we get the most from our money, and the last thing we want to do is waste our paychecks at the gas pumps.

If you’re looking to get a new vehicle in the near future, you may have considered Saturn.  Saturn is a great company that has some very impressive cars.  They are known for making reliable cars with nice features, and a great gas mileage.  If you consider them for your next car, see what kind of gas mileages you’ll receive.

  1. Saturn Aura – This is a beautiful car that has become very popular by our drivers.  It has a nice style, an affordable price, and gets 33 MPG!
  2. Saturn Astra – If you’re looking for a great crossover that gets an excellent gas mileage, be sure to consider the Astra that gets 32 MPG.
  3. Saturn Vue – We love our SUVS, and this SUV really is something.  It has a very nice style to it for an affordable price, and gets an awesome gas mileage for an SUV being 26 MPG!
  4. Saturn Sky – Looking for a luxury sports car, or even a convertible that gets a great gas mileage?  Those are definitely hard to find but Saturn managed, the Sky gets 25 MPG.
  5. Saturn Outlook -  Here we have another great SUV with excellent gas mileage, how does 24 MPG sound for an SUV?

Saturn is really a great company with some awesome vehicles.  They have a great selection to choose from, and you can count on a great mileage for every single one!

Repairs02 Jul 2009 12:57 pm

Car dents happen to the best of us, and when it happens to your own car, you may, or not know what to do.  Depending on how big the dent is, this will determine how much you’re probably going to pay.

Head to a collision shop

The first thing that you may want to do is head to the collision shops.  All collision shops are going to give you a free estimate when it comes to repairing anything on your car.  If they are going to charge you for an estimate, I would run away fast.  Check out at least three shops, and see who has the best rate.

Do it yourself

If you have a smaller dent, you may want to try it yourself.  You’ve seen the TV infomercials such as the “Ding King”, and “Pops a Dent”.  Do these type of products work?  Some say they do, and some say they dont’.  It all depends on the make, and model.  Look at Amazon’s list of the best car dent remover kits, and you be the judge if you want to repair it.

Try other options online

Doing a search on Google for “fixing car dents” brings up a lot of pages that have some great how-to videos when it comes to fixing dents.  You’re going to find that most body shops are going to want a lot of money just for a simple ding.  That ding could look like a $25 fix, but it will end up costing you over $500.

Try some of these options when you’ve come across a ding on your car.  See what works for you, and see if these options can help you out.
