When it comes time to sell your car, there are a few tricks that you can use in order to sell it fast. As long as you have it priced right and it’s marketed right as well, that car can fly off your driveway in as little as one day. So, what are these tricks that I’m talking about?
Shine it up
No one wants to pull up and look at a car that’s dirty and smells of smoke. If this sounds like your car right now, either head on down to the local car wash or do it yourself on a nice afternoon. What you’ll want to do is vacuum the inside, shampoo the carpets, polish the interior, while waxing and cleaning the outside. You want this car to look like it came off the new car lot.
Get rid of the junk
If you added bumper stickers, tacky items like hanging dice, etc to the inside of your car, remove them right away. These are things that you think are “cool” but many buyers may find them tacky. When it’s a buyer market in the car field, you’ll find that a buyer will quickly walk away from the silliest little things. That’s why I always say it’s better to play it safe than risk anything.
Get a tune up
Before you let anyone come check it out, you may want to take it in and get it checked out. Let the mechanic tell you everything that’s wrong with it. This way, when you sell it, you won’t be surprised when the buyer gets it checked out and something is wrong. It doesn’t hurt to get the tires rotated and oil checked either. This will be a nice little bonus to the buyer plus it’s going to keep your car in better shape.
Try and keep all your records
If you can do this, it’s great and it’s a bonus to many but if you have your entire old car related receipts lying around, many buyers love this. It shows them that you’re not hiding anything and you’re willing to show them what you have had done in the past, which will in turn build trust with you and the buyer, making he/she more confident to buy from you.
Of course, these are all smaller things that you can do in order to sell your car quickly but you have to sell it at the right time, price it right and make sure that you’re courteous when selling. Add these tips to the mix and let’s hope you can sell that car fast!
