2006_pontiac_g6coupe_ext_1We all remember the scare we had just a few months ago, having gas prices reach over $4.00 per gallon.  Slowly gas prices went from $2.00 to $3.00 to over $4.00!  When gas prices reach that high, we find it harder to pay the bills we already have, it is harder to save more money, and we dread going anywhere by car because all we’re thinking about is $4.00 per gallon at the gas station.  Having the bills we already have, and then an expensive gas on top of that, only makes things harder.  What auto makers are realizing is that their potential customers are making it a must to have a fuel efficient car, especially in today’s economy.

So, if you’re looking for a new vehicle, be sure to consider Pontiac for your next choice.  If you haven’t considered them before, you’ll realize why you should give them a chance now, by reading below.

Top 9 Fuel Efficient Pontiac Vehicles from 2009:

When buying a new car, we’re making a commitment to pay for one of the most expensive things we’ll probably every buy.  New cars aren’t cheap, and can easily have high monthly payments.  Although cars are already expensive, it doesn’t help to add on a car that doesn’t get good gas mileage.  When looking for a new car, it is important that you find one that is fuel efficient.  Although gas prices are on the cheaper side now, who says they’ll stay like that?  We’ve already seen our scare of over $4.00 per gallon.  Instead of paying a high gas bill every week, how about save that money for something better?  When looking for your next car, consider one of these top nine fuel efficient vehicles from Chrysler!

Top 9 Fuel Efficient Vehicles from 2009:

  1. Chrysler Sebring averaging 30 MPG highway, with a price of $23,780 MSRP.
  2. Chrysler Sebring Convertible averaging up to 29 MPG highway, with a price of $28,530 MSRP.
  3. Chrysler PT Cruiser averaging 26 MPG highway, with a price of $18,720 MSRP.

How to save on gas with a RVAny owner of a RV can tell you that they don’t like to look at the gas bill no matter how cheap gas is.  It’s no fun pulling up to the pump and literally pumping hundreds of dollars into your RV that gets next to nothing in terms of miles per gallon.  What if I told you that there are ways to save on gas when you’re filling up?  What if I told you that you can save up to 10% per gallon?  How cool would that be?

If you tend to travel every year via your RV, I would highly recommend that you look into getting a gas credit card.  It has so many advantages that not only can you use it on your RV, you can use it on your personal use as well.  Basically, every time you fill up at the pump, you’re going to save a certain percentage.  This will all depend on what card you apply for and as I said earlier, you’ll probably save anywhere from 1-10%.

Let’s take an example on how much you can truly save when it comes to filling up your RV.

  • Let’s say the cost of gas is $2/gallon and you need 100 gallons.  Your total before your credit card is going to be $200.
  • Let’s now say that you’re going to get 5% off your total bill.  $200 x 5% = a savings of $10 or $190 total.  That’s not too bad, is it?  It’s a lot better than nothing.

Now, when it comes to a gas credit card, there are some things that you should look out for when applying for a card –

Look for caps:  Some card companies will only allow you to get a certain amount back each month.  Some do it, while others don’t.  I would recommend that you look into getting a card that doesn’t offer a cap.

Look at the long term rate:  A lot of card companies will offer an intro rate.  I would make sure that you look past the intro rate and what they are going to offer in the long term.  For example, they may offer 10% for the first 60 days but only 5% after.

Where can it be used?  Some cards can only be used at particular stations while others can be used all over.   If you get one for a specific location, make sure they are all over the place so that you can take advantage of the discount.  I prefer cards that are accepted everywhere but it really doesn’t matter.

The last note I would like to mention is that you should pay your card off in full each month to take full advantage.  If you don’t pay your card off in full, you’ll see interest charges, which you don’t want.  Instead, make it a habit to pay it off in full.

With so many cards out there, find one that suits your needs.  Every fill up over time is going to save you a lot of money.  Savings really do add up if you use it right!

If you’re the type that loves to get up, go to the garage and fix your car, that’s great.  You’re one of the few that knows how to work on a car, save money and get things done.  Many of us that really don’t know how to fix anything car related, we unfortunately have to go to an auto shop and pay top dollar that could have been fixed for very little.

Now, even the best of us when it comes to fixing cars have trouble doing some certain things and that’s okay!  Even the best out there don’t know how to do everything.  This is why a manual has been formed.  Now, instead of going out and purchasing a manual, there are many ways to either find one online or near your home.  Let’s take a peek on how it’s done.

Use the power of Google

Everyone underestimates the power of Google.  No matter what you want in life, you can place a simple search and you’ll be able to find what you need.  When looking for a manual online, simply do a search such as “Honda Civic Free Car Manual”.  If nothing pops up, you may just have to re-word it until something does.

Be specific if you have to

Being to broad sometimes with a search may not pop up anything.  Instead, be as specific as possible when searching for problem.   Let’s say you’re having a grinding noise coming from under your hood and you drive a Dodge Ram.  Type in “grinding noise + dodge ram + under hood” in Google and see what comes up.   You’ll be amazed at how many people may have the same problems as you.

Ask your questions online

With so many websites online when comes to repairs and asking questions, there are a select few that I like that can lead you to a specific direction to find more answers.  Whenever I have a question, I generally turn to Yahoo! Answers or car repair forums such as TrustMyMechanic.com.

If all else fails, you may have to resort to buying the manual online and that’s okay.  Use services like Amazon to find the manual you want.  They are generally cheap and can save you money compared to the brick and mortar based stores.  Before you go out and buy that manual, search for some free alternatives first.

When in the market to find a used car for a steal, many people don’t think of the government when they want to purchase a vehicle.  Since the government generally doesn’t really want to make money on these cars, they give them away for next to nothing.

When the government sells cars, they are basically selling cars that were repos.  These cars sit in lots, collect dust and wait to go on the auction block.  You can either bid in person or online.  This will all depend on the state and city that you live in.

Now, how the heck do I find these cars and where can I get a great deal? Well, let me lead you to some tips on how you can get the best deal on government autos.

Know where to search for these great deals

The first step that you should take is by checking out Gov-Auctions.  This site is amazing when it comes to searching for cars in your area.  Yes, it costs a few extra bucks to search but they do all the dirty work for you.  What you’re going to find out is that you’re able to save thousands on a potentially great looking automobile.  I say it’s a great investment if you ask me.  Hey, sign up for the service and why not share with your friends?

Know the process and how it works

You want to know how the auction process works and id you know that if a car doesn’t sell at the auction, it can be bought afterwards for an extremely cheap price?  You’re going to find out that you can go into these auctions and there are going to be very little people because no one knows about it!  You’re going to be dealing with used car guys and others looking to resell.  You’ll rarely see someone that’s there to purchase for their own good.

The membership fees are worth it online

If you’re hesistant to pay membership fees, you’re going to find yourself doing a lot of dirty work and frankly, it isn’t worth your time.  You’ll find yourself browsing city websites, calling up people who don’t know anything and instead, you could have paid $40 to find your perfect car.  This is why I highly recommend services like Gov Auctions who do all of the dirty work for you.  I know it sounds like a commercial but I’ve used it to find my car in the past and it works great.

When it comes to the secrets and the government, a lot of it is online.  Yes, you can find auctions on the city’s website and more.  Should you sign up for a membership to get this info?  Absolutely.  They do the dirty work for you and it’s worth the money if you ask me.  If not, you’ll find yourself digging through many websites leading to nothing.
