An oil change is something that we need to get every so often so that we give our car the proper maintenance it requires to run well.  Getting an oil change is something people often put off, and don’t realize how important it is.  If your vehicle is in need of an oil change, consider a few of these tips below!

Do it yourself – If you can do an oil change yourself, you may just want to do that to save money.  When we change our oil ourselves, we know that we’re doing the job right, and that the dirty oil is out, and that fresh oil is going in.

Coupons – Before you get an oil change, make sure you search for coupons a head of time.  Often in newspapers, and online you will find discounts or coupons you can use off your next oil change.  Save money whenever you can!

Recommended mileage – Once you get an oil change someone will tell you when to come back, or when to come back due to your car reaching a certain mileage.  Make sure you take this seriously.  Oil changes aren’t that expensive and they are very important to get on a regular basis.  So, keep track of the mileage that tells you you need an oil change.

Check it yourself – If you think it’s too early to come back and get an oil change, you may just want to check the oil yourself.  Is the oil dirty, or a darker color?  If so, you’re definitely due for one.  If not, your oil will be a clear, lighter brown color.

Cheaper than you think – You may dread getting an oil change because of the cost, although placing your engine will be a lot more costly!  You never want to mess with that because you’ll pay 10x more in the long run if you don’t take care of your vehicle properly.

Getting an oil change is a must if you want a healthy and happy car!  So, before you get your next oil change, you just may want to consider a few of these tips ahead of time!

Best GPS for moneyIf you’re in the market for a GPS, you’re going to find that there are a lot of systems out there, and it’s hard to pick out which one is going to best for you.  Since every person is different, it’s hard to just recommend one, but for starters, I want to recommend that you go to my top GPS page for a great list of GPS on the market today.

How to get the best GPS for your money

Value – You never want to go too cheap with a GPS.  You’re going to find, like anything in life, that you’re going to get what you pay for.  If you want good directions, you’re going to have to pay a fair prices.  I wouldn’t recommend paying any less than $100 for a good, quality GPS.

Name Brand - With so many brands out there, I prefer a few top of the line products such as Garmin, and TomTom.  If you do your research, you’ll find that a high majority choose these brands over any other.  If possible, focus your search on these two main brands.

Features – When you look at all of the GPS, you’ll find that the features are going to vary.  Like a car, you’ll find that some have features you don’t need, while others don’t.  Some of the features you’re going to find are things such as gas prices in your area, traffic updates, and even little features that will re-route you around traffic.  If you want features like this, you’re going to have to pay a pretty penny.

Size – I like small things when it comes down to auto accessories, but with a GPS, I want something large so that I can see the screen.  If the screen is too small, you’ll find it’s hard to see.  The smaller screens tend to run at a cheaper price, but if you’re like me, you’ll want to get a bigger screen, just to see it easier while on the road.

Keep your eyes on these four features when you’re looking to get the best GPS for your money.  There’s a big selection out there, and as long as you know what you want, you can find the right GPS for your car.

You don’t need to be a car whiz in order to do your own car tune up  Well, there may be some things that you want to get checked out by the professionals, but I wanted to show the basics that you should get checked out when you’re looking to get a tune up with your automobile.

Check your fuel filter - The first thing you want to do is check your fuel filter.  A dirty filter can alter your miles per gallon.  This filter should be changed at least once per year.

Change your oil filter - An oil filter is cheaper if you get it at a shop, rather than the oil change place.  This filter is very easy to change, and should be changed at least every 5,000 miles to be on the safe side.

Change your oil - This can be a tricky one, and if you live in an apartment, or a smaller place where it’s hard to access your car, you may want to spend $25 and take it to the shop.  If you want to learn how to change your oil, it isn’t that hard.  Watch this great Ehow video on how to change your oil if you want to learn more.

Always keep up with your fluids - Always make sure you check your fluids on a weekly basis.   This means checking your oil, your windshield wash, as well as others like power steering.  Learn how to use a dipstick to test the oil, and see if the oils are up to the full mark.  If your oil is getting low, you’ll want to add some.

Get your battery tested - At least every 3-6 months, go into your local Auto Zone or repair shop to get your battery tested.  Most places will do this for free, and I wouldn’t pay for one.  Get your battery tested so that you don’t show up to your car one day, and find out that it doesn’t start.

Watch the wiper blades - This is probably the easiest one.  If your blades are starting to not work, you’ll want to look into getting them replaced.  Find your size in your local store, and place them on.  It’s really that simple!

DIY is fairly simple, and if you can follow this checklist, you’ll find it will be fairly easy for you too.  If you need help, consult with a mechanic, or ask a friend or family member who knows a lot about cars.

Finding repo rvsRVs can be expensive, and if you’re looking to buy one in the near future, I would recommend that you look into buying one either used, or look into buying a bank repo.  The reason you’ll want to buy a bank repo, is because the savings are amazing, just like those of a foreclosed home, etc.

Today, I want to show you how you can find some great cheap RVs, so that you can enjoy travel in style, and not have to worry about booking a hotel room, or sleeping in someone else’s bed.

Call up your local bank - Every bank works with some type of repossession.  Whether it’s a house, or a RV, call up about 10 banks in your area, and ask about this.  They will be more than willing to point you in the right direction to find a great deal on a RV.  Follow up with that phone number.

Call up the local police department – Yes, your police department will sell repossessed items as well.   Since they generally don’t publicize it, they will give you the information over the phone.  Call up a few local departments, and see what they can do for you.  I would recommend that you call the non-emergency number of course!

Look for local auction houses - Every state has it’s own auction house where they will hold auctions weekly, monthly, or whatever they may be.  Either look them up online, or look for them in the newspaper.  Call them up, or just show up for one to see how they work.  Some of these auctions do cars only, while others do RVs as well.

If you’re unfamiliar with RVs, and you really want to buy one, I would recommend this great Used RV Buyers Guide. It costs you a few bucks, but it’s well worth it.  I’ve known a few friends that wanted to purchase a RV, but were afraid to get into it.  This is a great start to take in order to look for repossessed RVs!
