Making an injury claim

Whether you got into a little fender bender, or one that has sent you to the hospital, a car accident is no joking matter.  To make things worse, if the other driver isn’t insured, what the heck are you supposed to do?

If you’re thinking about making a car accident injury claim, there are a few thing that you’re going to have to keep in mind before making your claim.  The last thing that you want is to be accused of fraud and such.

Everything has to be documented

If you got into an accident, you’re going to want to make sure that you’re getting a police report.  The more documents you have, the better it is going to be for you.  You’re also going to want to call the car insurance company as well.  It’s always best to play it safe, rather than be sorry.

Go to the hospital if you have to

If you have an injury, you’re going to want to let the police officer, EMT guys know about this.  You don’t want to say that you’re okay and a few days later, your back is going to start hurting you.  If you feel the slightest pain, you’re going to want to mark it down.

Get medical records

When you go to the hospital, you’re going to want to make sure that you’re getting everything documented.  Make sure that they are writing down the exact reason you are there, as well as what injury you’re being treated for.  You’re going to have to remember that it’s going to be tough to fake it.  The key here is to make sure that they know about your symptoms.

Meet with your Doctor

Once you get out of the hospital, you’re going to want to talk about claims with your Doctor.  He/She is going to be able to assess you and tell you whats best for you.

Make your claim with the company

Once everything is said and done, you’re going to want to make your claim with your insurance company.  They will most likely ask about the accident and other details.  Once again, the more you know and the more you have documented, the better it is going to be for you.

The process really isn’t that hard, because many are going to be able to guide you.  You’re just going to want to make sure that you have all the papers necessary.  By doing so, you should have no problems with the process.

It seems like no matter what you do, you’re always going to find that throughout your car’s lifetime, it’s going to get a dent sooner or later.  Whether this dent is the size of a nickel, or maybe it’s the size of a basketball.  I wanted to give you a few pointers that you can use, in order to remove a dent yourself.

You’re going to find that some dents are going to be harder than usual.  If you don’t feel comfortable doing any of this, I would recommend that you get a professional to do it for you.

#1 Try a dent pullerThese pullers are going to suction itself onto the dent.  What you’re going to do is then twist and turn it.  By doing so, you may be able to to pop the dent out.  I would recommend that you get the Northern Industrial Dent Puller.   The Ding King, as well as a few others “As Seen on TV” products are absolute garbage.  Don’t buy into them!

#2 Get a cross bar - Like the dent puller, the cross bar is going to go across the whole ding.  You’re going to put much more force on pulling it out.  You will find that these kits are going to work a lot better with your bigger dings.  Be careful with a kit like this though, because you may find that the glue is harder to remove.

#3 See if you can tap it back out – It sounds like a very unprofessional way to do it, but if the dent is fairly small and you can get from behind it, you can simply pound the door once or twice with your hands.  This doesn’t always work, but may if you can again, access it from behind.

#4 Pound it out – If you’re finding that you can’t do it with your hands, what you can grab is a towel and a smaller mallet.  Put the towel over the back of the dent.  Slowly pound away and see if it makes any progress.

Again, if you don’t feel comfortable with doing something like this, you can always call up a collision shop.  Don’t be surprised though when a little dent may cost you around $500!

If you’re a big bike rider and you love to take your bike everywhere, you’re going to find that your car may not do the trick.  The last thing that you want to do is tear your bike apart and throw it inside the trunk.

Thankfully for bike racks, you can hook up your bike and you’re good to go on your next biking outing.  With so many bike racks out there, I wanted to showcase the top 5 racks on the market.

I checked out some e-commerce based stores online and these are solely based on reviews and what other people had to say about them.  Here’s what I came up with.

Hollywood Racks E3: This 3-bike trunk rack is very user-friendly.  It protects your bike finish, it has a great tie down strap for extra security and is designed to fit perfectly on just about any type of vehicle.  It also comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

Topeak Explorer Bike Rack: For around $30, this highly reviewed bike rack should be able to get the job done.  It weighs less than 2 pounds, its made of hollow aluminum and its frame is able to withstand just about anything.

Thule 958 Parkway 2-Bike: This rack is a little bit more in the price, but you’re going to get what you pay for, obviously!  This particular model holds up to 2 bikes, it’s soft rubber cradle is made to protect your bike.  It fits all types of bikes with its unique dual arm design.

Saris Bones 805 2-Bike: This trunk mount is fairly comparable to the Thule branded mount.  Its strong, built with 100% recyclable non-rusting materials.  It also has a ratcheting anti-sway strap to stabilize your bike.

Allen 102S Premium Trunk: This Allen bike rack is designed to fit 2 bikes.  It’s extra long arms can easily accommodate up to 2 bikes.  It’s great design snaps right into place and can be folded away with one hand.  This comes fully assembled and fits most cars out there.

There are countless bike racks out there.  While most of them are universal, you’re going to want to make sure that these racks fit your car properly.

best glass scratcherLet’s say that you have a scratch on your car window, or maybe you have a scratch on your home window.  Did you know that there are kits out there that can help you remove scratches from any type of glass?

These kits really are affordable and shouldn’t cost you  more than $20.  You have to think of the options here, where you can spend a few bucks, have a nice new window, instead of paying hundreds for a newer looking window.

I looked around at some online retailers and had found what I think are the top 5 glass scratch remover kits on the market today…

#1 TR Industries #NS-8 (around $3): This professional polish has one of the best ratings online.  It’s going to work on hard water spots, as well as polish spots that need touch up.  It even works with the direct sunlight.   The bottle tends to last a lot longer than most.

#2 Lens Scratch Remover (around $10): This mostly used on things such as watches and glasses, but some people have had luck on windows.  I would recommend this product for smaller scratches.

#3 Quixx Acrylic Scratch Remover (around $15): This restores acrylic surfaces with professional results.  Why go out and pay a professional top dollar, when you can get this for less than $15?  Quick, simple, and has great reviews.

#4 Dremel 684-01 20-Piece Set (around $15): If you’re looking for a whole kit, this is the kit for you.   This 20 piece set comes with a reusable storage box, an application, as well as other tools that you’re going to need to replace any type of scratches.

#5 Nu Finish Scratch Doctor (around $10): The last product on my list is the scratch doctor made by Nu Finish.  This highly rated product is rated the #1 surface scratch remover on the market.  It’s safe for clear surfaces and will remove just about all scratches behind!

As you can see, these scratch removers really aren’t that expensive.  If you find that none of these products are working for you, you may want to consider getting yourself a professional to help you out.

I know this title sounds silly but shockingly enough, people have come across this situation where they have accidental put super glue on the car, or have had some leftover from a project.  After cleaning it with a rag, or some cleaner, you’re going to find that it’s going to be a little tougher than you think.

I wanted to give you a step by step guide that you can use, when you’re looking to get rid of super glue on your vehicle.

#1 Try nail polish remover - Nail polish remover is notorious for removing super glue from just about anything. What you’re going to want to do is dab a little bit on a piece of rag.  Dab lightly and rub it away.  You’re going to want to make sure that you get something strong, and nothing something cheap from the dollar store.

#2 Use your nail or a razor blade - Grab a rag and if you have longer fingernails, you can try to scrape it with your fingers.  If your nails aren’t long enough, get a small razor blade.  You’re going to want to be careful with this, because you may do some damage.

#3 Try polishing it - Grab some car polish and try rubbing at it.  Start lightly and see if it’s making any difference.  You may find that down the road, you’re going to need to get replacement paint to go over some spots.

#4 Try WD-40 – Again, you’re going to spray just a little bit on a rag.  You’re going to then rub lightly in the spot.  You don’t want to let it sit there, because you will soon find out that the paint will start to bond.  This isn’t something that you want to happen!

#5 Head to a body shop - If you don’t want to deal with any of it, I don’t blame you!  You can always call up a body shop and see what they can do for you.  Many reputable places out there are more than willing to give you a free estimate.  Something like this shouldn’t cost you that much money.

Test out some of the tips above.  If you don’t feel comfortable doing it, then I would just recommend that get a professional to look into it.
