At The Auto Dealership: Bargaining
posted by FindGasCards.com
We all have to buy cars sooner or later in our lifetime. Whether we buy them used or new, there are some tips and tricks that you can use out there to get the best prices possible. You should never have to pay full price for a car again.
Know what you want beforehand
It’s going to make it a lot easier to get what you want when you know what car you want. With the Internet, you can do all the research that you want to do. When you know what kind of car you want, this is when you can start doing the bargaining with the dealerships.
Find a few dealers in your area
No matter where you live, you can probably find at least 2 dealers within a good driving distance. When you know of the dealers, ask for a quote either online or via phone. If you go in person, you may find out that they will pressure you a lot more on the phone, e-mail, etc. It’s important that you do your research because prices do vary from dealer to dealer.
Check online to get the value
When you customize your car, head on over to KBBto get the true value of your new car. If the dealer is charging you more than this price, you’re in trouble because it’s not going to be worth. 99% of the time though, they will be close to this number but it is always important that you check just to make sure.
Pick out the lowest priced dealer
When you get the online quotes from the dealers, you’re going to want to bring in the KBB quote if it is lower than the asking price. From there, you’ll be able to negotiate. The thing you’re going to want to remember is that you’ll want to show them that you have some interest but if you show them that you’re willing to walk away, they will lower their asking price. Just remember that they will never sell lower than what they bought it for.
Shop near the end of the month, if possible
A friend of mine used to work at a dealership and he had said that when processing orders, he found that the cars sold at the end of the month were always cheaper. This is because the sales staff has to meet some quotas or they want to meet particular incentives. It never hurts to buy at the end of the month.
In this economy right now, you can find a steal. Many dealerships are just overloaded with vehicles that aren’t moving. If you make the right offer, you can possibly see a brand new car in your driveway that you wanted.
