The car battery is an important part of your car as you may know by now. It’s going to charge everything from the lights inside your car to the headlights on the outside. When your battery dies, you won’t be able to start your car. Since many people have questions when it comes in regards to an auto battery, let’s take a look at some of these questions and answer them one at a time.
What should I look at when buying a battery?
When buying a battery, there are a few things that you should look into first. The first thing that you want to do is to make sure you’re not under warranty. Many auto batteries come under warranty and if your is still under it, you’ll be able to get yours replaced by the company itself. If you know it’s not under warranty, you’ll want to look at the dimensions and the amps required to power your vehicle. You can find all of this information in your owner’s manual as well as opening up your car hood.
How old is my battery?
If you don’t know how old your battery is, that’s okay. Open up your hood and look at the side of the battery. Just like a bottle of soda, you’ll be able to tell when the battery was produced. It will give you a month and date. This will give you a better idea on when it was produced and shipped. If you’re buying a used car, check out the date to ensure the battery is rather new. If it’s older than 7 years, you may want to get a new one.
How do I know I need a new battery?
If your battery is generally 5-7 years old, you’ll probably want to get one. If you it isn’t, you may want to jumpstart it because it could be due to the climate, a light being on, etc. If you find car starts fine after the jump, you may not need a new battery. If it continues to give you problems or won’t accept the jump, you’ll want to get it looked at as soon as you can.
How do I jumpstart my car?
Jump starting a car is rather simple. Make sure you have another vehicle ready that is fully running and follow these tips we wrote about on how to jumpstart a car.
When it comes to your battery, try and replace it at least every 7 years. If you do have troubles, always try a jump start before you replace it because that’s all you may need. If you’re in a need of an auto battery, I highly recommend you check out Amazon’s auto department because they do offer very competitive deals.

We had our car battery replacement done at a battery specialty store where the technicians confirmed the problem was only only the battery. After the car battery replacement, we felt relieved that finally we don’t need to worry about jump starting the car every time it won’t start.
