When you’re on the hunt for a new car, there are so many places to check but sometimes its hard to figure out where the best place is to look.  With the Internet the way it is today, there are so many great free resources online to find the car that you truly want.  Take a look at the list below and explore a few websites I generally look at when I look for a new car.

Cars.com - A great service that I like to use online that’s free is Cars.com.  It’s a classified website that allows you to search for used and new cars by make, model and the area you live in.  When you do your searches, you’ll be able to research, look at photos, videos and more.

Ebay -When you think of Ebay, you probably just think of little objects here and there but they actually have a great auto section that allows you to search for autos in your area or outside of your area.  I actually know of a few people that have used this service to find cars around 150 miles away.  They were able to save $2,000 just by making the long trip.  Ebay is a great way to connect with local sellers that are looking to unload their vehicle.

AutoTrader.com – AutoTrader reminds me a lot like Cars.com but a lot of the features aren’t there.  You’ll still be able to search for used cars in your area but a lot of the times, you won’t be able to find exactly what you need.  This is why I would encourage you to check out more than one site when doing your homework on cars.

Craigslist – Craigslist, like Ebay is another great way to find the car you want.  Many people will resort to this place to sell their car because it’s free.  The only downfall is that there’s a lot of competition, which makes it great for you.  The only fall back on this service is that it’s hard to search for a car you want because people may have bad descriptions or no pictures.

Your local newspaper -A lot of people still forget about the old fashioned way of advertising, the newspaper.  The next time you get your paper, check out the classified section to see what’s listed.  Even though most of the times you’ll see dealership ads, there are some hidden gems here and there.  Many people have resorted from posting in the paper since it costs too much money.
