An auto club has many benefits to it and whether you’re a car enthusiast or you just want to borrow a car for trips or business, you may want to look into getting a membership for one.  Let’s take a look at what you should look out for when you’re deciding on joining one.

What do you want to join the club for?

Do you want to join for business?  for your family?  or do you want to join to drive around rare exotic sports cars?  You need to look at why you want to join this club.  The fees will be based on what needs you want.  Obviously a mini van is going to be a lot cheaper than a Porsche.

Analyze the fees

I don’t know where you live but you’re going to want to do some shopping before you sign up for the first club you come across.  If you live in a populated metro area like Chicago and New York City, you’re going to be able to find a lot of clubs.  If you live somewhere near South Dakota, you may not have that much luck.  Look at fees such as the start-up costs, monthly expenses and any other expenses that my ensue.

Talk with the members and owners

Before you sign up for a club, talk with the members and owners and ask them what they love and hate about it.  If you get a great response back, you can probably bet it’s going to be a great club that you can join.  Also do a quick check online to see what kind of reviews it gets.

See what kind of cars are available

All car clubs are different.  Some clubs are going to have a bigger inventory while others only have a select few.  The more they have, the more you get to choose from and the higher your chances are of grabbing a car when you want one.  You don’t want to show up on a Friday and they have nothing to choose from.   Remember though that just because they have a big selection doesn’t mean they have quality.

Car clubs are great for those looking to ride some exotic cars or even borrow a mini-van, a fancy car for work, etc.  Look for auto clubs in your area to see what suits your needs.
