Car Tune UpIf you own a car or lease a car, it’s important that you get a tune up for your car each and every few thousand miles.  If you fail to do so, you’re just asking for trouble.  You have to think about your car like you would your health in a way.  Wouldn’t you want to catch cancer in it’s earlier stages rather than when it’s full blown?  This is why you should get a health check up every year and a car is no different.

Your car has many fluids

A car has many fluids ranging from your steering to your oil.  It’s essential that you check the levels of these on a monthly basis.  If one level gets low, this can effect more than just the device it’s meant to operate.  If your oil gets low, this is going to effect your engine.  If your engine goes, you’re asking for a $2,000 and up bill for labor and the new engine.

Check your battery

Your battery is what starts your car, lets your lights run, etc.  If your battery is about to die, you won’t want to be stranded in the snow or somewhere that’s not near your home.  During a tune-up, a mechanic can check your battery to ensure you that it will last for the next couple years.  A battery generally lasts a few years depending on your use and the weather.

Check your tires

Believe it or not, your tires are another essential part to your vehicle.  If your tires aren’t properly inflated, you’re asking for a disaster on the roadways.  It’s important to check the air pressure, the wear and tear on the tire threading and it’s also important to get your tires rotated at least every 6 months to a year.

Check your brake pads

Another crucial part to your car’s system are the brake pads.  If these go, how are you going to stop?  Once again, it’s important that you get the pads checked out to make sure that they are still good to go for another couple months, if not years.

By now, you’ve probably realized that there are a lot of important parts to the car’s tune-up checklist.  By now, you should have a better understanding on why you should take it to a professional or learn it on your own.  As long as you get a tune-up once a year with your car, you’ll be fine but always remember to change your oil at least every 5,000 miles.
