Cancelling Auto Insurance the Easy Way
posted by FindGasCards.com
Cancelling any type of service in life is a pain in the butt. You have to listen to all of the sales pitches on why you should stay and the companies simply won’t take “no” as an answer. While this can get very frustrating at times, it doesn’t need to get this way if you know how to play the game right. After getting details from insiders that work with major auto insurance companies, I can tell you exactly how you can cancel your auto policy within 10 minutes without stupid sales pitches.
Call before closing – The absolute best way to have someone speed through your cancellation process is to call 5-10 minutes before close. Most receptionists are waiting to get out of the office after a long day and are willing to do anything to get you off the phone. I’ve tried this in the past and it works like a charm, trust me. I was on the phone for no longer than 5 minutes. Make sure that you call up your local office and not the toll free number. Toll free numbers generally go to the headquarters and are usually opened 24/7 most of the times.
Lie! – We all know your mom and dad told you to never lie. But when it comes down to avoiding the “please stay here” speech, it’s always easy to lie. To cancel quickly, tell the receptionist that you simply won’t be using a car anymore or you have a company car now that is insured by the company. 99% of the time, the receptionist won’t have anything to answer back with or sell you on. Think of a simple lie that will get you out of the mess and it should work like a charm.
Be nasty – If the above two just don’t work, you might have to just be nasty if they won’t take no as an answer or they are trying to sell you on home insurance, etc. Simply call up and tell them that your time is valuable and there’s no changing your mind on the cancellation, so if you could kindly cancel, we can make both parties happy. Now, when I say be nasty, I don’t mean yell and scream and threaten their lives. Simply call up, be nice and explain in a nice nasty way that you don’t have time for the sales pitches.
Following these three tips should help you get on and off the phone within a few minutes. If it doesn’t, you may not be doing it right. Sometimes you get an aggressive company and sometimes they just don’t care. Whatever you get, it’s always nice to be on and off the phone with an accomplished mission.
