Ever have someone driving in front of you that is spitting out rocks?  Often when they are spitting out rocks, they like to hit the windshield and leave a nice crack.  To avoid taking it to the shop and paying a high price, first try looking at it yourself.  Save yourself money and the hassle by repairing the windshield yourself.  Follow the steps below and you’ll have a new windshield in no time.

The first thing you need to keep in mind is that your windshield is made up of two pieces of glass.  This is why when the pebble hits the windshield it cracks, and doesn’t break.

You will now want to go to an auto store or just a general store like Wal-Mart.  Once you get there look in the auto section and find a windshield repair kit.  Once you’ve bought your windshield kit take your car home and hope it is a nice day.  Avoid doing this in the rain or snow.  If you have to take your car into the garage to work.

Now it’s time to clean your windshield as best as you can.  Now get a hair dryer and blow dry the windshield.  This will get rid of any moisture that your windshield might be holding.

Once your windshield is dry, get out your repair kit.  Take out the adhesive and put it on the chipped area.  Rub the adhesive and then line up the remainder film and repeat and place in the adapter.  You will want to make sure that you make the adapter as verticle as possible.  Now pull up the syringe part to make a vacuum.  The area may bubble a bit and the adhesive will slip into the crack.  This will make it air tight.

Once you’ve completed the steps above, give yourself a pat on the back!  You fixed your windshield yourself!  Good job, you’ve avoid the labor costs of the shop and the repair bill.  All you need is a repair kit and some patience and you will be all set!
