Every state is going to vary when it comes down to learning about driving.  Whether you want to get your license, or maybe you need to get your learning permit, there are going to be many companies that you can choose from.

What I can tell you is that I can give you an average of what a basic lesson is going to cost you, since they all are going to vary.  What you’re going to find out is that you can never really get an approximate number, but rather a good ballpark figure.

With driving lessons, you’re basically going to learn in a classroom atmosphere.  You’re also going to get behind the wheel training as well.  Some classes may also offer CD Roms or DVDs that you can take home as well.

If you want to learn outside of the classroom just to prepare yourself, you’re going to find that it is generally going to cost you around $15 to $85 for classroom material.  This is going to be based on if you purchase used or not, as well as how much material you get.

When you’re looking to join a driving school in your area, this price range is going to vary greatly.  On average, you’re going to look at a low point of $150 for all of your classes, as well as behind the wheel experience.  Some courses may charge you as much $350 though.  Make sure that you look into more than 1 school to get a close enough estimate.

You may find that there are going to be additional costs as well.  Most states are going to charge a set amount of money to take a finalized driving test.  This can be up to $175.  Again, each state is going to vary with something like this as well.

When you’re ready to start shopping, you’re going to want to contact at least 2-3 driving schools in your area.  You’re going to find that each one is going to be a different price tag.  Get their fee schedule, as well as when they can teach you, because some schedules may be a little different, or not to your liking.
