Are you a parent that is worried about your teenager’s driving?  When teenagers are on the road for the first time parents have a right to worry about them.  We worry about their safety on the road and the safety of others when they are driving.  Ford Motor Company cares about worried parents and inexperienced teenager drivers.  Have you ever heard of the new technology by Ford?  If not, Ford has come out with a new system called “MyKey”.

What is MyKey? – MyKey was invented for parents that are worried about their young drivers.  What MyKey does is it allows the parent to set the top speed of the vehicle, the max volume for the stereo and sets off an alarm noise when seat belts aren’t being worn.  The MyKey system can also permanently enable the traction control system and set chimes for when the car reaches 45, 55 or 65 mph.  The MyKey system will be able to identify who the driver is by which keys are in the ignition and therefore it will know which driving mode to use.

How can you get MyKey? – Ford will be presenting MyKey in the future for the 2010 Ford Focus Coupe.  Ford feels this is such a great idea that in the future they want to spread this new technology to the rest of their modle’s lineup.

What are the benefits of MyKey? – This well help parents feel more comfortable about their teenagers driving and will help keep the teens safe.  It will keep your children stay safe by keeping the driving speed at a safe speed, the stereo low so it will keep distractions to a minimum, and will help them wear seat belts do to a alarm.

Interesting facts – Ford did research and asked what the teens had thought about the idea and 67% of them said they didn’t like the idea.  Although the teens didn’t like the idea, the 67% dropped down to 36 if the MyKey system led to parents letting them use the car more frequently.
