When you think of filling up at the pump, you probably have never really thought that there would be coupons out there that would enable you to save on gas. Yes, gasoline is one of those things in life, that you don’t have to pay full price for. Now, the question is, “How do I find these coupons?”
Today, let’s take a look at how you can find these coupons and how you can take advantage, so that you can save some top dollar on your next fill up. These discounts always come in handy, especially when gas prices start to get high.
Check your grocery store bill/coupon
If you tend to shop at a store like Sam’s Club, etc, that offer a gas station, be on the look for coupons. These places are notorious for adding coupons to either their receipt or handing them to you after a purchase. They do this because it’s a little incentive to shop inside their store. These discounts usually vary, but the next time you go inside a store, make sure you don’t throw away those extra receipts.
Store reward programs
Reward programs used to be huge among many grocery stores. Some of these stores still have them, but it all depends on where you live. The process was fairly simple. The more money you spent, the more you would get back at the gas station. For example, if you spend $20, you would get a .50 voucher off your next gas fill up. Once again, check and see if your store has a gas station because these are the places where you can take full advantage.
Look at the gas station itself
Many gas station owners like to offer coupons to their customers directly. If it’s a good enough deal, they will post signs on the gas pumps. These coupons can range from getting a discount if you prepay, etc. For example, a gas station in my area offered $2 off if you bought $50 in gas ahead of time. At the time, it was a great deal because I was spending a load of money on gas. Even though these discounts are rare, they do pop up here and there.
Use a gas credit card
A gas credit card isn’t really like a coupon but it does give you a discount every time you fill up. For example, the Discover Open Road card will give you 5% off per gallon every time you fill up. If you make $50 in purchases every time you fill up, you’ll save $2.50 each time. This will reflect on your credit card statement.
These are just a few ways on how you can save money when it comes down to saving on gas. Try some of these strategies and see if you can save some money the next time you fill up.
