If you’re in the market to lease a car, you’re probably wondering where you can find the best deals.  Just because a dealership advertises a deal, it doesn’t mean you have to pay full price for that payment.  Yes, you can negotiate with leases and there are many ways you can take advantage.

Take a look at your credit report

The first thing that you want to do is check out your credit report.  You want to know what kind of credit score you have.  This is going to give you more power when it comes to negotiating with the dealerships.  The better your score is, the more they will want you as a customer because they know you won’t be a big risk.

Shop at least with 3 dealers

Never just walk into the first dealer and sign up for the lease.  Instead, find at least three dealers in your area and see what they can offer for each car.  Either call them up or e-mail them.  You may find that if you walk into the dealership, they are going to pressure you and you may just find it annoying when searching for the right price.  Make sure you get everything in writing when doing so.

Get all the fees straight

There’s going to more to the lease than your monthly payments.  You’ll have to know how much you’re putting down for a down payment as well as any other fees that occur.  These are fees that you can also negotiate with when it comes down to figuring out your down payment.

Know your features

Every lease is usually standard but some are different.  Most of them you’re going to find that you can only put on 12,000 a miles a year, etc.  If you fail to go over this, you will be charged by the mile.  You can usually purchase additional miles but if they want you as a customer, they can sometimes extend this to a higher amount.  Remember, you can work with just about anything!

When it comes down to finding the best leasing deal, it comes down to your homework.  Just like buying, you’ll want to shop around and work with the salespeople.  Never go in there and pay full price for your lease, you’re wasting your money.  Instead, work on things you want and hopefully good results will come.
