Being friendly with the environment can be helpful to everyone around you.  Most people tend to think that one person doesn’t matter but it really does!  If everyone thought like that, no one would take action.  You could say the same thing about voting but it all works out in the long run.  If you’re looking to go green with your driving habits, here are a few steps you can take to help our planet.

Buy a hybrid- The less gas you consume, the more you’re helping the environment.  If you can’t afford a hybrid then you may want to think of other steps you can take in order to cut back on your fuel consumption.  Hybrids are a great way to get more than fifty miles to the gallon.  Not only will you save money, you’ll be helping the Earth!

Try carpooling – Instead of driving by yourself to work, try finding a workmate or someone nearby that would like to carpool with you.  The less people on the road, the less we need to worry about polluting the air.  Check with your local state to see if they offer carpooling programs you can join, so that if you don’t know anyone, they can assist you and find someone for you.

Don’t speed – Speeding may sound silly when it comes to saving the environment but it really can help.  Just think of it this way.  The less you speed, the better miles per gallon you’ll be getting.  Make sure that you try and do the speed limit posted on the streets.  If you can do this, you’ll find yourself getting a little bit more per gallon.

Dump the car – Instead of driving, why don’t you ride your bike or walk to your destination?  If you live out in the country, this may be hard but if you live nearby some stores, try walking or riding.  This way, you’re not only helping the environment, you’re helping your body as well.  The next time you go somewhere, see if you can go there without using your car.

Use public transportation- Public transportation is there for a reason and if you take advantage of it, you can save on using your own car.  Let’s face it, the bus is going to ride regardless if you’re on or not, so hop on the bus or train the next time you go into town.  You’ll not only save money but once again, you’ll be helping our Earth.

Saving the Earth isn’t a hard job to do, you just need to be educated and you need to take action in order to make it work.  If we can all do this, it can make a difference.  Even if you just do one of the little things on the list, it will help.  Even when you think it doesn’t, it really does!
