You’ve pulled up to the gas pump before and have seen the advertisements for gas gift cards.  Most of the time, consumers think that these are just for gift giving but did you know that gas gift cards can help you save money every time you fill up?  Well, they can and it all depends where you fill up at.

Look for the promotional rates

Depending on where you fill up, many gas stations will offer promotional deals when you buy a gas gift card.  A local gas station around my area allowed me to save $2 every time I bought a $50 gift card.  What did this mean in return?  I was able to pay $48 for $50 worth of gas.  The next time you’re at the gas station, look out for these promotional deals.

Easier for your budget

When you purchase a gift card, you’ll know exactly how much is on the card.  What I’ll do when I want to control my gas spending is that I”ll go into the gas station for the month and purchase $100 worth of cards.  With the $2 off $50, I’ll be able to spend $96.  This will allow me to use this for my gasoline budget for the month.  Once this card is drained, I won’t be able to do anymore driving.  This technique really works when you want to watch out for how much you’re spending on gasoline monthly or even weekly.  If you don’t like the idea of getting gift cards each month, then I would say you get one each week for $20-$30.

Convenient for all

If you’re the type that loves to use cash and doesn’t carry around a credit card, you may want to get a gas gift card.  It’s just as safe as cash but you’re able to pay at the pump.  Since you usually can’t pay at the pump when you’re using cash, most gas stations will allow you to use their gift card at the pump making it easier for you.

If you’re looking for gas gift cards, there are many stations that offer them in person.  If you’re looking to get them online, you may find a smaller selection but they are still there.  I would recommend you buy a gift card from a station that is nearby where you can fill up without having to worry about running out of gas.
