Replacing your windshield wipers is something every car owner should know how to do.  Although what are some of the signs that indicate that your windshield wipers should be replaced?  Often when you need new windshield wipers your current wipers will have an awful screeching noise.  If they are making a screeching noise when you go to wipe your windshield it is definitely time to get new ones.  Also if yours seem to be scraping your windshield, or maybe they aren’t moving as well as they should you might need to consider getting new ones then as well.  How do you install them now?  Check out below for step by step instructions for changing your windshield wipers:

  1. Raise the wiper arm and locate the mounting clip on the blade.
  2. Release the clip and the blade will slide down on the arm.  (This causes the arm to come off of the blade.)
  3. Now match the old wiper arm to the new wiper arm to make sure you have the right one.  – Set them side by side to make sure they are exactly the same.
  4. Install the blade onto the arm.  – There will be a click sound that will ensure that the blade will stay in place and will work properly.
  5. Now check the rotation of the blade, and make sure it moves correctly.  Once you’ve done this you’ll be ready to go!
  6. Repeat steps above for the other side.
  7. You now have new wiper blades.

Follow these simple directions and you will have new windshield wipers installed in no time.  It is important to keep up and make sure yours are working properly.  You don’t want to get into a dangerous situation because you can’t see as well as you should.  Doing these simple maintenance moves will save you a ton of money and time by avoiding your local auto care shop.
