You’ve finally waxed your car and got it ready to sell and now the only problem is you don’t know how to sell your car online. In today’s modern era, the best way to sell a car is online. Forget using the old fashioned way such as newspapers and bulletin boards at your local grocery store, the best bet is to simply start selling it online. While there are a ton of places to sell, there are only a few I recommend. Let’s start the steps on how you sell your car online:
Step 1 – Get the value. If you don’t know your cars value already, I suggest you go to KBB.com to find out what your car is worth. If you don’t know how to use KBB, I recommend you check out a post I created titled “How to get your used car value price“.
Step 2 – List your car. There only a few websites online that I recommend when it comes to selling your car online. Some are free and some will cost you money but it’s well worth it. Here are the 3 websites that I highly recommend you invest in to get the most out of your car sale:
Ebay- When you think of Ebay, you think of buying little things like a CD player or DVD but believe it or not, thousands of people sell their cars everyday. You’ll have to pay a small listing fee but it’s worth it because you’re reaching the world. These people will travel from all over to get to your car. Make sure that you take lots of pictures and have a great description so that you don’t mislead the buyer. Be honest.
AutoTrader- I’ve used AutoTrader.com countless times to sell my car and it has worked wonders. This is an online publication that most buyers go to find the car they are looking for. For $69, they have a great feature where you can run your car ad until it sells. You can include a ton of pictures and not only will it be featured online, it will be featured in their magazine, as well as a few of their premium partner sites such as MSN autos, Edmunds.com, and more.
CraigsList- If you want to go the free route, you’ll want to view CraigsList. The only problem is that there are so many posting per day, your post can fall fast from the first page. If you plan on spending time on this site, you’ll have to post multiple times a time, if you plan on getting some calls. I would only recommend this option if you don’t plan on paying a posting price but only remember, you get what you pay for.
Step 3 – Submit details. Once you figure out what place you want to post your car, start following the step by step instructions. Each website is going to vary, so make sure you follow them properly. There are a few things that you remember when you sell your car. Make sure you take lots of pictures and that you tell the truth. Buyers don’t want to deal with someone that lies. Honesty won’t hurt you!!
Step 4 – Wait. When you finally have your details up on the Internet, wait for the calls to come in. Answer all the questions that the party may have and go from there. Make sure that you don’t take the first offer if it’s too low. Never be afraid to fight back and keep your price. There are thousands of people out there every day looking for a car.
Selling your car is fairly easy online and it’s the best thing to do when you want to get the most money for your vehicle patient when you’re selling because the right buyer is out there.
