When driving the car you should never have the radio on.  You want to make sure you hear every little sound.  If they have the radio on they may be trying to cover up the noise of something bad.  So make sure it is off and you are giving a good listen.

Have an open mind when you’re testing driving the vehicle for the first time.  You will most likely compare the used vehicle to the one you have now.  You don’t want to compare anything, when test driving.  Every vehicle runs differently and they all have their positives and negatives. 

Test the inside of the vehicle.  You will want to test the radio, the windows, the door locks, the speedometer, and anything you can think of.  Make sure these all work, and if they don’t mention it to the owner.

Drive fast and slow.  You will want to test the vehicle on both the highway and in the city.  Make sure it accelerates well and it slows down properly.  This is important for the transmission, you want to make sure it shifts properly. 

Don’t be afraid to hit the brakes.  These are obviously important so you want to make sure these work properly.  If they don’t that only leads to dangerous situations.  Try both stopping fast and slowly.

Take your time when driving the used vehicle.  Buying a car is a very expensive thing, so you want to make sure you’re getting a good deal.  The driver will understand and if it runs well he will want you to drive more.  If he seems in a hurry he may be worried a secret might come out so make sure he lets you ride around for a while.
