Whether you got into a little fender bender, or one that has sent you to the hospital, a car accident is no joking matter.  To make things worse, if the other driver isn’t insured, what the heck are you supposed to do?

If you’re thinking about making a car accident injury claim, there are a few thing that you’re going to have to keep in mind before making your claim.  The last thing that you want is to be accused of fraud and such.

Everything has to be documented

If you got into an accident, you’re going to want to make sure that you’re getting a police report.  The more documents you have, the better it is going to be for you.  You’re also going to want to call the car insurance company as well.  It’s always best to play it safe, rather than be sorry.

Go to the hospital if you have to

If you have an injury, you’re going to want to let the police officer, EMT guys know about this.  You don’t want to say that you’re okay and a few days later, your back is going to start hurting you.  If you feel the slightest pain, you’re going to want to mark it down.

Get medical records

When you go to the hospital, you’re going to want to make sure that you’re getting everything documented.  Make sure that they are writing down the exact reason you are there, as well as what injury you’re being treated for.  You’re going to have to remember that it’s going to be tough to fake it.  The key here is to make sure that they know about your symptoms.

Meet with your Doctor

Once you get out of the hospital, you’re going to want to talk about claims with your Doctor.  He/She is going to be able to assess you and tell you whats best for you.

Make your claim with the company

Once everything is said and done, you’re going to want to make your claim with your insurance company.  They will most likely ask about the accident and other details.  Once again, the more you know and the more you have documented, the better it is going to be for you.

The process really isn’t that hard, because many are going to be able to guide you.  You’re just going to want to make sure that you have all the papers necessary.  By doing so, you should have no problems with the process.
