Learning About Women Working on Cars
posted by FindGasCards.com
There was once a time, some call it the “good old days”, when women weren’t supposed to know anything about cars other than how to drive them, and that was subject to opinion. In those good old days, a woman was considered less than a woman if she knew how to, or tried to, change her own oil, perform a tune up, or even change a tire on her own car. The only knowledge women had about car maintenance was how to put it on her credit card.
Next came the days of the sexual revolution where women demanded to know how to do everything a man knew how to do, including fix cars. You began to see women working on their cars in the driveway, fixing their brakes, changing fuel pumps, and keeping their credit card in their wallets except for at the parts store. You even had women working at the parts stores.
Shortly after the sexual revolution came the technical revolution. Now cars are full of computers and electronic parts that even the men don’t dare trying to fix in their driveways. Now even the men have to use their credit card at the repair shop instead of the parts store because everything has to be placed on a diagnostics machine or requires a computer chip. The days of women working on their own cars came and went in a flash and it is sorely missed by many women.
Women who enjoy working on cars now either have to go to school to learn how to be an auto mechanic and try to get a job in a repair shop, many of which are run by good old boys from the good old days who would never consider hiring a woman regardless of her qualifications, or she has to buy old cars that predate computers. And that is what many women are doing.
If you are a woman and you need a hobby, and you don’t mind a little bit of grease, okay a lot of grease, under your nails, use your credit card to buy car parts and accessories. If you are a woman who enjoys crafts or puzzles, you might find that you enjoy the craft of auto body work or the puzzle of rebuilding an engine. How many of your hobbies can you drive when you complete them? How many of your hobbies will sell for thousands of dollars?
