It seems like our license plate tabs always seem to sneak up on us.  Before we know it, another year went by and we need to purchase tabs again.  Although, the tabs are pretty small, and easy to misplace, what happens when you loose them?  Our worst fear is that we’re going to have to pay full price for them again.  If you’ve lost your license plate tabs and you’re not sure what to do, continue reading below.

Search – Okay, so you’ve lost your license plate tabs.  First you want to do a search in your vehicle, in your house, through your mail and look anywhere you can.

Think back – Now, think back to where you may have placed them.  Look through your drawers, on the counter, and think of what you were doing when you got them.  I’ve lost mine before and if I would have remembered what I was doing when I got them, I would have been able to find them.

Secretary of State – If you’ve thought back to what you were doing when you got them, and have searched every place you can think of, you’re probably not going to find them (until after you get them again, of course.)  So, what you’re going to want to do is go down to the secretary of state.  Tell them your story, and they will be able to give you a second set of tabs.  What’s great about this is that you only have to pay a small fee of I think $5.  So, luckily you don’t have to repay the full price that you already did the first time around.

Just remember to bring cash or check only.  The secretary of state doesn’t accept credit cards.  Also, be sure to bring your license!

If ever you loose your license plate tabs I would recommend that you do the steps above.  You will get your license plate tabs and only pay a small fee!  Don’t panic because it happens to everyone at some point.
