Lowest Gas Prices – How to Find Them
posted by FindGasCards.com
As we all know by now, gas prices are extremly high and when we can save ten cents a gallon, we feel like we’ve accomplished something for the day. There are many tips you can take when you’re looking for the cheapest gas and some of these you may know about or some you may not know about. Let’s take a look at some tips that may help you save ten to twenty cents a gallon.
Start using websites – Websites online such as GasBuddy are a great way to find out about cheap gas in your area. The website is fairly easy to use. All you do is pop in your zip code and browse the gas stations in your area. If there’s a cheap gas station in your area, take advantage of it! GasBuddy relies on it’s users to submit the data, so if you even find a cheap station, be sure to post it.
Use your PDA or Phone – Most of today’s phones offer software you can download. Software such as Microsoft Live allows you to search for cheap gas in your area. So, if you’re on the go, you can whip out your cell phone software and see what’s around you. If you have the GPS technology, it will even direct you to that location.
Avoid the highway stations – One way to find the cheapest gas is to avoid a gas station near a highway or busy road. Gas stations will raise their rates on those roads because they know people will fill up. If you can go down a road with less traffic, you’ll probably save a few cents there. Make sure you don’t go too far because you’ll defeat the purpose of saving on gas.
Get a gas credit card – If you’re good with credit cards, try a website like FINDgascards.com that focuses on gas credit cards. Here, you can look at cards that are designed to save you on gas. Most cards will allow you to save anywhere from 1% to as much as 10% per gallon. Make sure you pay your bill off in full on time to take full advantage of the card.
Most gas stations in your area are generally going to be the same price. Try a few tips above and see if you can find anything cheap. My rule of thumb is if I can save at least .15 – .20 per gallon, I’m going to go out of my way to get it. Good luck with your cheap gas!
