Power inverters are amazing for your car when you basically want to plug anything into an outlet, but inside your car.  Many people don’t realize the power of these inverters and it doesn’t even dawn on them.

There are a few perks to having one as well.  For starters, you don’t have to purchase a cigarette adapter for every item that you have.  From your laptop to your cell phone, as long as you have a plug, you can plug it into your car.

The cool thing about most of these inverters is that they won’t cost you that much.  A good one is going to cost you anywhere from $30 to $50.

I went around to some various retailers online and here’s what I came up with as my top 5 list for the best power inverters on the market today.

  • Duracell 813-0291 (around $35): This was the highest rated one of the market.  It’s small, has a compact design and can charge everything from a cell phone to a video camera.  Upgrade to their power source and you can have 2 outlets.
  • Cobra CPI 480 (around $30): This one has one of the ugliest designs out of the 5 on the list, but it gets the job done.  With a 4 star overall review rating, you’ll get 5v of USB output, as well as 2 grounded AC receptacles.
  • Xantrex Technologies (around $35): This is a very simple, yet effective design.  Just plug it into your cigarette outlet and you’re going to get up to 175 watts of power.  Also comes with a 1 year limited warranty.
  • Jensen JP30 (around $60): This is probably the biggest looking one on the list but it doesn’t mean it’s not going to work!  It also has another high review rating, has 2 outlets, as well as provides up to 300 watts in power.
  • Wagan EL2402 (around $35):  The last one of the list is this Wagan branded USB power inverter.  Comes with a USB port, 2 outlets, as well as overload protection so that you can protect all of your valuables that you plug in.

Whether you have a cell phone, laptop, or anything that requires you to plug it in, you’re going to find that inverters like these are going to be a god send.  You can save a lot of money and it’s also going to save you a lot of headaches when you need to power something up!
