Right off the bat, you’re probably thinking that there are “secrets” to saving on gas.  Well, I can’t really call them secrets because all of this information is out there on the world wide web but instead of making you go out there and look for it, I’m going to make it easier for you and place all the tips here in  one spot to make it easier for you to look at.

Inflate those tires – Studies have shown that if you don’t inflate your tires properly, you’re not going to get the best gas mileage with your vehicle.  Instead, make sure that your tires are properly inflated at all times.  You don’t necessarily have to check them every day or every time you drive but make it a habit to check them at least once a week.

Slow down – The faster you drive, the more gas you’re going to burn.  It’s always best to drive 55 mph or slower and keep a constant speed.  If you’re the type that’s weaving in and out of traffic and you don’t know how to keep a balanced speed, then you’re the one burning all of that gas.

Stop idling – Try and stop yourself from keeping your car running when you don’t have to.  Every time you keep your car running, you’re burning fuel!  Every year, Americans burn millions of gallons of fuel just by sitting there.  If you’re waiting for someone or you have the car running, stop that and turn off the car to save on fuel.

Do you have a lot of weight?  Do you drive a pickup or car with a ton of junk sitting inside?  If you do, you’re going to want to make sure that you get rid of it.  The more weight you have in the car, the more you’re going to burn when it comes to gasoline.  Make sure that you’re only carrying what you need to when you’re driving around town.

By now, you may have already known most of this or none at all.  There are many ways to save on gas but these are just a few of them.  The main things to remember are that you drive slow, keep a balanced speed, and you drive around with as little weight as possible.  Just by following these tips, you’ll be able to save on gas every day.
