If you’re in the market to sell your car, there are some tips that you should use in order to sell it on time and for the price you want. There are so many people out there that place a car ad online and never get what they want for it because they aren’t following the marketing rules when it comes to selling a car.
Selling a car isn’t hard and as long as you have it priced right, you can sell it in no time. Here are some tips that you can use –
Don’t be greedy – sell it for a decent price
The first thing you want to do is head on over to KBB.com and get the value of your car. The Kelley Blue Book is the industry leader that most buyers and sellers use when looking for a car. A general rule of thumb is to take the value and cut 10% off of it. If KBB says it’s worth $5,000, start the selling at $4,500.
Try and sell it in the warmer months
Unfortunately, if you live in a state that sees snow or colder weather, you’re not going to be able to have as much luck as you would in the spring and summer. If you can wait until the warmer months, you’re going to have more potential buyers. Just like a house, you’re going to see more people walking through rather than in the winter where there’s next to no traffic. Unlike a house though, people won’t know how long you’ve been selling a car, so if you want to place an ad in the winter, go for it but you may not get the money you’re looking for.
Place ads all over the Internet
This is what I do when I’m looking to sell a car online. The first thing I’ll do is place a very detailed ad on Ebay asking for what I want. Make sure that you follow my selling your car on Ebay tips. If Ebay doesn’t work, I would try Craigslist as well as AutoTrader.com. AutoTrader has a great option where you can keep your car listed until you sell it.
Make sure you have pictures
An ad is never complete without pictures. If you have no pictures, you’re not going to have sellers. If you can’t get pictures online, try and borrow a digital camera from a friend or relative. It’s always important that you have at least 3 pictures. One picture of the outside and two in the inside, preferably the backseat and front seat.
Be descriptive – don’t lie
When you’re selling your car, make sure you’re as descriptive as possible. If there are major problems, make sure you note them. You won’t want to lie and say it’s running great when it really isn’t, this can call for disaster. As long as you’re honest, people will feel comfortable with you when it comes time to purchase.
These are just some of the major tips you can use when wanting to sell your car. As long as you’re honest, sell the car at a decent price and you don’t live a hundred miles away from life, you’ll be fine with selling your car.
