Whether you’re looking for a gas container to store in your shed or keep in the back or your car just in case it runs out of gas, which I recommend, I highly suggest you do a little research before your run out to the nearest store and purchase one.  There are a few things you need to keep into consideration before you spend a few dollars on one.

  • Make sure that the container is legal.
  • Try and get a spill proof container.
  • Don’t get a container too big for your vehicle.

As long as you follow these few tips, you should be able to find a gas container that can fit your needs.  Below are the top three gas containers on the market today –

Blitz USA #31710 – According to a few reviews I’ve read online, the Blitz USA gas container is one of the best on the market according to value and what you get.  With the Blitz USA, you’ll receive a spill proof container that meets DOT requirements across all 50 states.  The container also comes with a metal bung, so that it can be hung from anywhere.  Most containers don’t have one of these.  This container will usually cost you around $40.

Briggs and Stratton- If you’re looking for a cheap gas container that’s less than $20, you may want to go with the Briggs and Stratton.  This container can hold up to five gallons but doesn’t contain a spill proof adapter like the Blitz USA.  If you’re looking for something cheap and simple, I would take this route.

The Plastic Groups Container- One of the cheapest containers on the market, the plastic groups container can be found for less than $10 but not only is it cheap, it also has received great reviews for it’s size and durability.  The Plastic Groups container holds two and one half gallons and can be stored in your vehicle safely.

When you’re looking for the best gas container, the less it holds, the cheaper it usually is.  So, if you’re looking for something cheap, you’ll want to get something that holds around two to five gallons.  Other than that, brand names usually don’t play a big role unless you’ve had luck in the past with a particular brand.
