Whether you love SUVs or you’re just looking for an alternative, you’re going to find that going another route may save you a lot of money, or you may find that is going to save you a lot on gasoline.  Regardless of what it may be, I wanted to show you some alternatives that you may want to choose from.

You’re going to realize that a lot of these cars mentioned below work in the way of SUVs, but they are going to cost less and get better gas mileage, making it a win-win situation!

#1 Scion xB – This car almost looks like a SUV from the outside, but when you start to crunch the numbers, you’re soon going to realize that it isn’t.  They run around $16,000 and get 28 MPG on the highway.

#2 Kia Rondo – I love the look of this car.  It’s going to run you around $16,000, as well as get 26 MPG on the highway, making it a great sell.  It doesn’t look all that fancy, but I think that’s what makes it so appealing to me.

#3 Ford Escape — The Ford Escape is an amazing car.  It has a low base price and the MPG is going to blow you away.  You can get close to 35 MPG with this vehicle.  You can also get this same car in a Hybrid form.

#4 Subaru Forester – This Subaru branded car gets around 27 MPG.  It’s going to run you around $20,000 at a base price.  Its going to turn heads because it has a great exterior, as well as a lot of options to choose from!

#5 Hyundai Elantra Touring – I’m not a big fan of the outside of this car, but I could see how other people would like it.  Its a rather newer SUV, so you may want to dig deeper into it.

#6 Subaru Outback — This is one of the most fuel efficient larger sized cars that Subaru makes, making it a great choice.  Its spacious and you just can’t beat the quality that you get with this brand!

#7 Kia Soul — This is the second Kia on my list.  They have a great selection of cars and you just can’t beat the price!  This Kia in particular has a base price of about 14,000.
