Toyota auto makers are expecting the Prius to recover the cost in its hybrid technology within three years. This was an estimate that the accounting had come up with when the cost of gas was high and Toyota qualified for the clean vehicle tax credit. Today with the price of gas going down it is now estimated that it might take a bit longer perhaps four to five years. The increase in sales at the start of 2008 was much larger than it was in January of 2007 so the automaker still feels that the new Toyota hybrid will be a leader in the market of autos for the consumer. Toyota executives come up with some innovative ideas that are certain to make buying the Toyota Prius more appealing to the consumer by giving everyone a chance to lease one of these vehicles at only $219 per month. The consumer can now get the feel of the power behind the vehicle along with the ease in driving which might determine the increase of sales. The beauty of the car is certainly an added advantage to anyone who likes a comfortable vehicle with style.

Many speculators claim the success of the Toyota Prius is attributed to the high gas prices and the public’s concern about global warming. The automakers claim that it is just a great vehicle! They say that the Toyota Prius is the best hybrid vehicle on the market.  The automakers had a fear that when the tax credits were expired that the sales would be very slow but to their surprise the sales have increased. This is a wonderful reward for the automakers and since the President and Congress are considering letting the tax credits extend to a longer period of time this farther increases the possibility that the Toyota Prius will help the automaker get out of its financial problems. We all know that since Toyota automakers have surpassed “The Big Three” that not only the United States but the world is looking to them to save the economy.  Perhaps the name that the automaker attached to the vehicle has helped its success in the market. The Prius is from the Latin meaning “to go before” and it certainly seems that this vehicle has gone before all other hybrids. The Toyota Prius has risen to the top as the number one when it comes to hybrid vehicles on the market today.
