Transmission problemsYou’re probably on this article right now because you may think that you’re having problems with your transmission.  Well, you could be but then again, it could be something else.  I’m going to show you some warning signs on when you know that your transmission is potentially the problem.

Look for leakage – Do you park your car on concrete such as your driveway or garage?  If so, pull the car back and look for a pinkish looking liquid.  The pink liquid will tell you if it’s from the transmission or not since that’s the fluid color.  If you don’t park on concrete or a place you can’t tell, then set a piece of paper towel or something white under the hood overnight and check in the morning.

Delayed gears – If you find that you’re shifting from drive or reverse and it’s taking a lot longer than usual, this is usually a sign of a bad transmission.  The delays can be caused from a variety of things but most of the time it has to do with your fluids.

A burning smell – If you ever smell something burning, it can potentially be your transmission and I would advise that you stop driving until you get it fixed as soon as possible.  This burning smell could be that the transmission is overheating.  You don’t want to drive because this can possibly lead to a fire.

Look at the dash – Just take a glimpse at your dashboard.  If you see the “check engine” light on, you’ll want to get it checked out.  Most of the time it has something to do with the engine but this can always be related to the transmission as well.

A transmission does cost a lot of money to replace but if you can catch these conditions early, there are fixes that can be applied that can help you save thousands in the future.  If you experience any of these symptoms, I would recommend you bring it to a dealer or look into fixing it yourself.  If you do fix cars yourself, check out Amazon because they do have a lot of great transmission supplies for a very low price, you’ll be surprised!
