Credit Cards with Gas Rebates - 4 Ways to Save
by: Tom Tessin

Credit card companies love to send out gas credit card applications.  In fact, they send out over 5 billion offers every year and they continue to grow.  What are the hottest credit cards to sign up for?  It’s a gas rebate credit card.  What’s better than saving money on gasoline purchases?  Before you read the fine print, you must know exactly what to look for.

Know the value

If you drive frequently and you have a decent credit score, you’re going to want to look into a gas rebate credit card.  Just think of the savings you’re going to receive in the long run.  Let’s say you fill up four times a month and your fill up price each week is $40.  If you’re gas card is giving you a five percent rebate, you’re going to save $8 a month.  It may not sound like much now but in the long run, this will add up quite quickly.

Know what you want

When you’re looking at gas credit cards, make sure you know what kind of credit card you’re going to want.  There are a bunch of credit card types out there but when it comes to gas rebate cards, there really are only 2.  There are your general gas cards which allow you save money on purchases other than gas and then there are gas cards that allow you to save money on gas itself.  You’ll probably find that gas cards the focus solely on gas will save you the most money.

Watch your rates

Gas credit cards can be tricky at times.  Make sure that you look over for a limit cap.  Some credit cards will only allow you to get so much money back per year or month.  Your best bet is to find a credit card that doesn’t have a cap or a higher cap.  This will allow you to get the maximum amount back.  When applying for a gas rebate credit card, also make sure that you look out for the APR values.  You may find that some APR values are extremely high.

Shop around

Don’t apply for a gas credit card just because it looks like it’s the best one for you.  Make sure that you do your research when looking for the best rebate.  There are so many credit cards out there, it would be stupid to apply for a credit card flyer you get in the mail or from a credit card offer you see online.  Like anything in life, make sure you research!

By now, you’ve probably realized that gas rebate credit cards are a great way to save and they are definitely something you should look into.  Even if they don’t look appealing now, you can always come back in the future because chances are, they will always be around.  If you want to save on gas and you tend to drive a lot, look for the perfect gas card today.
