Hidden Gas Credit Card Fees
by: FINDgascards.com
When you’re ready to start saving on gas, I’m hoping by now you’re familiar with a gas credit card. If you’re not, I’ll give you a quick cliff note version and what you should look out for when you’re ready to apply for that card. A gas card is very similar to any other credit card but this type of card is designed more to save at the pump. You can save anywhere from one percent to as much as ten percent. It will all depend how much you can save depending on the card company.
Now, before you hit that apply button on an application online, there are a few hidden things you need to look out for that the credit card companies don’t like to tell you. It’s always better to know these terms before you apply for card so that when you start getting the card, you won’t get confused if you don’t see the rebates on your statement. I’m going to show you today what you should look out for and what each term means.
Look out for the cap – Some credit card companies like to set a cap on how much you can earn back in rebates per month. For example, a credit card company might only allow you to get back only $500 in rebates per year. It may sound like a lot of rebates but if you’re getting 10% back, that’s $5,000 per year. If you have two cars and a family, you can reach this quickly. Make sure that you look for this. I can tell you that right now there are cards out there that don’t have a cap limit. These limits will always be noted in the terms and conditions, make sure you look out for them.
Spend so much – Some credit card companies like to play a little game called spend so much until you get your rebates. Yes, some cards out there like to say that you need to spend five thousand dollars before you get your three percent back. If you’re not an avid user of the card, you may find it’s going to be hard to get the maximum benefits. A lot of the times, I highly advise you stay away from cards like these. The thing about these cards is that you’ll find that before the set limit you have to spend, you usually get next to nothing back for rebates.
The hidden fees – These fees are usually not hidden but in your face but a lot of people tend to ignore these. These fees generally include annual fees and fees along these lines. An annual fee is a fee you’ll have to pay regardless annually if you spend a million dollars or nothing at all. Make sure that you look out for fees like this.
These are the top three fees you should look out for when you apply for your first gas card. Instead of jumping on your first card application, make sure you read the terms and conditions. I know that the terms and conditions generally look like a bunch of gibberish but a majority of the times, these conditions do provide valuable information.
