How
To Save On Auto Insurance
by: Tom Tessin
If
you own a car, you’re probably paying auto insurance. Regardless
of where you live, it’s probably illegal to drive without it.
As every human being knows by now, you’re able to save money
on just about everything. A competitive edge makes the economy roll
properly.
Chances are today
that you are paying too much for your auto insurance. In fact, most
people don’t even bother to price compare when signing up for
their auto insurance quote. There are thousands of auto insurance
companies out there and we know you can’t call every single
one. We have a listed a few ways on how you can save on your auto
insurance.
Shop
Around
The Internet is
a beautiful thing. Make sure that you browse through at least 20-30
companies. A lot of these companies will give you quotes right on
their website. If not, you will be able to pop in some information
and the agency with either e-mail or call you with a proper quote.
Shopping around is the most important thing. Keep in mind that there
are a lot of smaller insurance companies out there that offer great
rates. Just don’t stick with Allstate and Progressive.
Get
All The Discounts You Qualify For
The insurance companies
are in it for the money. They aren’t going to come out of the
woodwork and tell you every discount you’re eligible for. This
is your job. So weather you’re a senior citizen or good student,
it’s your job to research the discount policy. This research
can save you anywhere from 10 to 20 percent.
Keep
Your Record Clean!
Don’t worry
if your record is already tattered. Most auto insurance companies
will only look back to the previous seven years. Now we know you can’t
wait seven years until you get your new quote but just keep in mind
that the safer you drive, the more you’ll save in the long run!
Take
More Of A Risk
The older your
car is, the less likely you’ll care about it. Instead of taking
a $500 deductible out on your car, you should take out a $1,000 deductible
instead. Not only will this save you a lot of money, you will only
have to pay an extra $500 when you get into an accident. Remember,
you’re only responsible for the amount of your deductible. If
your claim falls below this amount, it’s usually safer to NOT
report it so that you don’t have a claim on your record.
These
are just a few things you should consider when applying for a quote.
The most important thing is to shop around. It’s like anything
else on the market. The more you look around, the better chance you’ll
have of finding a deal.
